Skull Cups

Day of the Dead or Los Dias de los Muertos, is a two day celebration on November 1 and 2. In the community where I live, Tierra Nueva, we build a festive candlelit altar with pictures of our loved ones, honoring their memory with stories, songs and favorite foods.

Once a year during the month of October, in preparation for the San Luis Obispo County Open Studio tour, I create Day of the Dead ceramics and silk hangings using the joyful colors and playful skeleton imagery of ancient Mexico.
